First things first, I want to wish my mom a very HAPPY
BIRTHDAY! I love you so much mom! And second, HAPPY 4th OF JULY!
So this past week has been nuts!!! But it went by so fast! It is week 6 of the
transfer; next week are transfers again!
This past week we went to Obligado to do splits with the
sisters there and it was really good; splits are always exciting.
On Tuesday, President Svec got here [full name: Wenceslau
Svec Gandolfo, from Chile]! On Thursday we had a multi zone Conference with him
and Hermana Svec. We were all super nervous thinking they were going to be very
different than Hermana and President LaPierre, but they got here and they are
sooo amazing! They are so nice and they are so cute together. Presidente y Hermana
LaPierre were not very lovey dovey people in front of us missionaries, but Pst
and Hna Svec were holding hands and giving kisses. It was weird, haha.
This past week was very good. We met some really awesome new
people and the branch is progressing, I’m so happy to see the progression that
has happened!
On Sunday, Graciela was confirmed and given the gift of the Holy
Ghost. She then volunteered to teach the majority of the gospel principles
class, and it was so cool! She is so excited to teach. She is a teacher in the
university here, and she is super good at it! And that is something that we
need here: they don’t know how to teach.... not to be rude or anything! But
Graciela is amazing.
She has a date to go to the temple to do the work for her
mom on the 22 of July! We are preparing her for all these steps in her life.
She told us that in this past week since she was baptized she has felt so
different, she has been blessed in the material things, the spiritual things
and she has been able to forgive her dad! She was so emotional and it was so
amazing to see her change! God really does cause miracles in the people who are
willing to let him lead their lives. God wants us all to find true happiness,
but sometimes the human race is too stubborn to accept his will, but when we
let him, he really can mold us and form us to be someone a million times
better!
Today for P-day we went to the Ruins in Trinidad ParanĂ¡. They
are Jesuit ruins [and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Jesuits were expelled by
Portugal in 1767, focus of the Robert Deniro movie, The Mission.] They were soo
cool! They were gorgeous! We went as a Zone Activity, and it was super exciting.
It reminded me of going to the ruins in Colima, Mexico, but these were real buildings!
[As contrasted with just pyramids.] There was a temple! It reminded me of the old Catholic cathedrals from Mexico! It
was super fun.
Oh, and with Pst. Svec we can now drink Mate and Terrere.
They are the two tradicional drinks here with the Yerba Mate, so Hermana Martinez
and I every night and morning now are drinking it, haha.
Life is good, all is well and God is real! He is preparing a
place for us in heaven and we just have to do our part! Keep Working, Keep
Trying and keep going, God is real and his love is too!
Hermana
Newell
