Mother’s Day!!!! I got to talk to my
family!!! Those days are always so exciting and it was so great to talk to all
of them, Thank you all for all of your support and love!
This past week was really good, super
hectic but great. We had splits with the Hermanas in Obligado. It is like an
hour away in bus. It went really well, with Hermana Loaiza, Costa Rica, and
Hermana Vieirlves, Sao Paolo Brazil. That was Monday and Tuesday.
Then during the week we had a lesson
with Margarita. She is an investigator that we found this week. We were talking
and she was like, “I have my religion but I like learning about others and I am
open but don’t expect me to immediately go to your church,” and we were like, “that
is totally okay.” At the end of the lesson we sang the song Grande Eres Tu,
I’m not sure what it is called in English [How Great Thou Art], sorry, but
heck, the spirit was sooo strong. It was definitely there and it was powerful. Once
the song ended, Margarita said, “You know what? You might just have a surprise
this Sunday at your church.” She didn’t end up coming yesterday but there is a
lot of hope! It was amazing!
And then on Friday I had one year in
the Mission!!! Crazy nuts! For that day we had to go to Natalio with the zone
leaders. It is like 2 to 3 hours away by bus. We went to their district meeting
and then we came back, and we ate vegan hamburgers! It was a super long day,
but very good as well.
Then Saturday we were contacting and
two older ladies asked which church we were from, we said, “The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints”, and one of the ladies was like, “the Mormon
church?” and we were like, yeah! And she rolled her eyes and then started
bashing on us, big time, and telling us that we are a sect and going to go to
hell and all that stuff, it was interesting. We left them with our testimonies.
But then we met Fanny! She was a
woman of 24 years old and we got there just as she was packing to leave her
boyfriend. She was 8 months pregnant and not doing very well. She was torn
apart emotionally. So we shared about Jesus Christ and she told us where she
was moving to, and that she would love us to keep coming by!
Then Sunday I got to talk to my
whole family!!! God is amazing and blessing me every day. I love being a
missionary and its crazy how much one learns in just a year! But life is
great!
Today for Pday we went with
Margarita, that new investigator, and she taught us Niduti. It is like the Paraguayan
knitting craft thing. It is gorgeous!!! And it was super fun. We are going to
keep going on Pdays and she is going to teach us more. She sells us, for cheap,
all the things to be able to do it on our own! We are super excited.
I hope all is well there, God lives
and He loves you all!!
Hermana Newell
